With heavy hearts and deep affection, we share the passing of Polly, our vibrant and unforgettable Shamrock Macaw, who left this world on July 31, 2025, after five cherished years as a treasured member of the Majestic Wings Rescue flock.
Polly arrived at MWR on April 25, 2020, and quickly established herself as queen of the aviary — bold, intelligent, opinionated, and full of sass. With brilliant plumage and an even brighter personality, Polly left a lasting impression on every life she touched — feathered and human alike.
She leaves behind her best feathered friend, Dino, with whom she spent countless sunny days in the aviary and quiet evenings side by side. The two were nearly inseparable, and Dino continues to search for her, missing her presence with every passing hour.
Polly had a very specific list of humans she deemed worthy of her affection — and she made her standards crystal clear. Audrey was her person, through and through — the one who earned Polly’s trust, her kisses, and her heart. Brad was the only other human ever granted the honor of a kiss, a rare distinction in Polly’s discerning world. Tina was deemed perfectly acceptable for transport duty, helping Polly from the indoor enclosure to the outdoor aviary and back again. And then there was Christy, whom Polly showed her affection for by regularly poking holes in her shirts — a true badge of honor from our feisty girl.
One of Polly’s greatest joys was being outside with Dino, soaking in the sun and fresh air, and hanging upside down like a bat — her signature move, performed with flair and pride.
We’d also like to give special thanks to volunteers Jaden, Howard, Chris, and Helen, who made sure Polly always had a clean space for her daily shenanigans and fresh food whenever she needed it. Your care and consistency gave her the comfort to be exactly who she was — unapologetically Polly.
Though her time with us ended too soon, Polly’s spirit will forever be a part of Majestic Wings Rescue. Her memory lives on in every flutter of feathers, every playful squawk, and every bright green blur that reminds us of the joy she brought.
Fly high, Polly. May the skies be wide, the branches strong, and the sun warm on your wings. You were deeply loved, and you are profoundly missed.
Forever part of the flock.
